Adult Annual Physical Examinations

Adult annual physical examinations are an important part of staying healthy, especially as we age. The physicians at Alpharetta & Cumming Internal Medicine provide a comprehensive annual physical examination to identify risk factors so that they can be treated in their earliest stages. Having an annual physical examination provides your physician with important “benchmark” information about your health so you can receive the guidance and care you need to stay healthy as you get older and as your medical needs change over time. Annual physical examinations also provide patients with an ideal opportunity to discuss any health-related concerns they may have.

About the Physical Examination

An adult annual physical examination begins with a complete personal and family medical history to look for risk factors and diseases, as well as a review of any symptoms you may be having. Patients need to provide a list of all current medications, including pain relievers, vitamins, and supplements taken on a routine basis. The examination itself will include a blood pressure screening, a weight measurement, and an evaluation of the eyes, ears, nose, throat, belly, lungs and heart (using a stethoscope). Blood work and urinalysis may also be performed or ordered, and other tests or evaluations may also be performed depending on your specific needs. At the end of the exam, you’ll receive medical guidance aimed at addressing existing medical issues that will help you lead a healthier life.
